The slowest express train in the world

The Glacier Express winds its way through remote valleys, past sheer rock faces, idyllic mountain villages, over the Landwasser Viaduct and through the Rhine Gorge, the Grand Canyon of Switzerland.

It scales the highest point of its journey at the Oberalp Pass with ease at 2033 metres above sea level. Thanks to the large panoramic windows, a clear view of numerous summits, deep gorges and the UNESCO World Heritage sites "Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch" and "Rhaetian Railway in the Albula/Bernina Landscapes" is guaranteed.

The three-course menu is prepared freshly in the on-board kitchen and served to you at your seat.

You will find out everything you need to know about this particular route through the Alps via headphone – making sure you don't miss a single highlight.

Please note:
A seat reservation in the Glacier Express is required. Book well in advance by phone on +41 81 288 65 65, or at any railway ticket office in Europe. A supplement is charged for the reservation in addition to the price of a valid ticket.

There is a wheelchair compartment and a toilet suitable for use by disabled persons in the 1st class section of every Glacier Express train. Important: Seat reservations in the Glacier Express are mandatory for wheelchair users and their accompanying person. Be sure to specifically request seat number 11 when making your reservation at a railway station ticket counter or travel agency; please do this no later than 24 hours before the trip.

If the disabled guest cannot leave his/her wheelchair during the journey, the seat reservation must be made through Glacier Express Central Reservations (Tel.+41 (0)81 288 65 65 or via info@glacierexpress.ch).
Disabled passengers who are not confined to their wheelchairs during the journey, however, can reserve their seats using the normal Seat reservation service.

Well worth knowing: Our attentive train personnel will be pleased to assist you board the train. Please simply wait on the platform beside the mobile lift 10 minutes before the train's departure time.

Tickets: Travellers with a disability are required to show an identification card (accompanying person's card for Swiss citizens). Persons resident in Switzerland who are dependent on an accompanying person are entitled to free travel for the assisting person and/or a guide dog for the blind. A single ticket will be sufficient for all.
Important: The accompanying person must be able to assist you during the entirety of the journey. Disabled and accompanying persons who are not resident in Switzerland are not eligible for a discount.

Further important information:
Wheelchair users and the accompanying person pay the cost for a 2nd class ticket and travel in the 1st class.
